Hi everybody!
I will begin with describing the sympthom I had faced. It might be somewhat long but please read it because I really need help!
My battery went off, but I did not have time to buy a new one, maybe I don't need to buy a new one. This is why I wanted to check if there is some recharge when the engine runs. First I took out the battery (specs.: 44 Ah, 210A) and wanted to recharge it. I found it out only next morning that the inddor battery charger was not working, this way I put back the battery in the car in the same state I took it out.
And now the never seen before event: when I connected the plus and minus as it should be, some sparks and smoke came out from somewhere the starter engine. After that I tried to turn on the engine, and huge sparks and smoke with a strong electrical burn smell came out from there. Of course the engine did not start. I kept on trying and with a few friends we pushed the car and started the engine without using the electrical starter engine. I left the engine running for approx. 5 minutes and turned on. After that tried to start the engine, and guess: IT STARTED WITHOUT THE SLIGHTEST PRBLEM!
I just can't figure it out what that sparks and smoke, multiple times, were when I connected the battery. Should that have been because the air outside is very wet at this time of the year here in Romania, Cluj-Napoca, and for that it caused some short-circuit? Now the engine starts and runs well and no smoke from the starter. The battery is a bit old so I might replace it with a new one, but I am worried for the starter.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!
And also please let me now the spcifications of the correct battery for the C1J 1.4 L engine, because I suppose this one is a bit small for the engine.
Thank you in advance.
