A couple of weeks ago I had to change the alternator of the 11 GTX Cheverny. Quite easy, but no I have a noise problem. Although the belt is tightly tensioned it keeps making noise. It is not slipping though.

Does anybody have an idea to stop this without installing a new belt?

Thanks,

John

PS Yesterday I saw a lovely '93 19 RT 1.8 115 bhp at a Renault dealer...

Hi

I had the same problem. The back or out side of your belt is “slipping” over your waterpump-poelie. You can buy a new poelie or you can make a groove in the length and in the middel of the poelie. In this shape --> \_/. The nois should be over.

If it isn’t clear enough say it and i wil explain it again.

Hoi

English:

The problem has changed a bit. Due to (my) faulty refitting the belt was not rightly positioned on the flywheel but one groove displaced. The belt misses a groove now. After correct refitting the noise has gone when iddling (the former problem). Now it makes noise from 1500 rpm and up, really embarrasing to drive around with.

How can I make the mentioned groove in the waterpumppulley?

Groetjes,

John

new belt

Today I installed a new belt to solve the problems. The old one was too damaged and stretched. Four times the new belt jumped into a wrong groove after starting the engine. The fifth time it was okay.

Groetjes,

John
