My renault 11 won't start when the engine is cold. Checked all of the carb etc, even tried a second hand carb. If the car starts it tries to die when you press the accellerator. If you keep pressing the accellerator further it revs up. The symptoms are like fuel starvation when you initially press the accellerator. I have checked the fuel pump / pipes also. When the car engine has warmed up a bit it will start every time. It also runs great when warm. I have tried swapping the electronic ignition unit out of desperation. The mixture seems fine as the plugs are not white or charcoaled up. Any ideas???? The car is a 1400 GTL (1986) fitted with a C2J enjine and a twin 32 Weber carb.

il faudrait que tu regardes du coté de la durit amenant les vapeurs d'huile dans la pipe d'admission (elle est branchée sur la semelle du carburateur): à l'intérieur de celle-ci, il y a un calibreur de débit d'air: s'il est cassé: trop d'air, donc ta r11 cale (j'ai eu le problème)

I gave up in the end and took the car to a small garage near me. The mechanic is good, honest and cheap. That makes a change eh!
He said there was a choke lever missing which stops the choke flap from opening due to the vacuum from the engine when it is turning over. He didn't explain where the lever fitted. If the lever is part of the carb I have been very unlucky to get two carbs with the same part missing. I can't see this lever mentioned in the Haynes manual. Does anyone know where it fits? Is it part of the carb. assembly. I may have to take the car to bits out of interest to see what he has done!!!

the refregiration sistem has a valve that shuts down the radiator when the motor is cold if the valve is broken the car don,t start when cold but starts when hot i hope to be right
