Well. For the last couple weeks, I've been able to make it out to Dede's neck of the (literally) woods for open training. Wow!! Lots of new faces. More importantly, two key things went through my mind. The first being "Look at all these people training for the upcoming SE regional! How cool is this!". Of course, soon after my inner monologue spoke those words to me, I began watching the dogs and handlers on the training field. What I saw brought on the second key thought. "Crap. I've really got my work cut out for me if I want to keep up." Obviously, that is just my oh-so-positive way of inwardly vocalizing my admiration for the quality of dogs and peoples that I have been seeing of late. Are those dogs, or long legged Gators with fuzz glued to their backs?
I'm very impressed with the improvement I'm seeing in those I know, and the equally formidable performance of those I had not met until last weekend. Quite a crew up there in the wooded swamps north of Ocala, FL. Dogs, handlers, decoys... All dedicated, talented, and working their tails off every Saturday. Now I just have to do my best to keep up!
