apparently my web cam will only take pictures in bitmap format. this forum only accepts jpg and gif format. i will try to find a converter on the net. wish me luck.

If you are using windows, I assume you are, you can use the windows paint program to convert it.
It's under < Start > -- < Accessories > -- < Paint >

Load the file from disc then use the "Save as" option and you will see the option to save it as a .jpg
