run an epilator over your face unless you have made 100% certain to trim NOSE HAIR FIRST!

Trust me on this one.

I tried to wax under my arms once. I nearly passed out. Not to mention my brazilian wax attempt... I can't stand pain at all. Amazing that I've given birth to 2 kids without any epidural blocks.

Waxing

June 10 2007, 10:25 PM

Funny, I don't find waxing the bikini area that painful just difficult to get to - my arms don't seem to be in the right position!!! Yes, armpit waxing is painful - best to have done by a beautician coz you need to do the upper and lower halves in the opposite directions but be warned you will feel like you got beaten up for about 3 days. I would say facial waxing is less painful than epilation (and I guess if you had a lot of hair you could get the worst off with the wax then the epilation wouldn't hurt so much), I haven't epilated my face for ages as got my lip stuck in it - ouch!

Ouch Louise! I can feel your pain! Really! :)

I have a Braun http://www.braun.com/global/products/beautycare/ladyshavingepilation/epilation/xelle.html#

I love it! The first few times I used it it was rough but I got used to it and it doesn't bother me at all anymore.
I often sit at my desk and surf the net with one hand and run the braun over my legs with the other.
I don't even think about it anymore. I LOVE the results.
I used to shave but I would break out in horrible rashes and I was miserable.
I'll NEVER go back to shaving, ever.

I also use it in my arm pits but let me tell you, the first time was horrible. I was bleeding and I hurt so bad.
I mean really hurt. But I kept at it and now I can manage. I figured out a few things that help.
I have a bottle of that medicated body powder (I think it has menthol in it because it feels cold when I put it on)
I make sure my pits are bone dry then I rub plenty of the medicated powder in.
I stretch my arm to the ceiling and pull the skin in my armpit tight as possible.
Then I just do it. After I'm done I put some more of the medicated powder to help sooth the pain. It's not too bad anymore.

Oh yeah, and I use the "I'm a total wussy attachment" thing that came with it.
It's a little thing that's supposed to help reduce pain. What it really does is keep the skin from getting snatched up in the little pinchy tweezers by keeping the skin taught. It's not perfect but it DOES help. I still have a few "ouches" now and then but over all, I'm pleased with it. I love so much having that nasty stuff gone and not having shaving rash!
I was so miserable before I got this thing.
And my legs feel marvelous! I can actually feel my skin now. Having the hair gone allows my skin to "feel".. It's very nice, it's like ALL of my skin is a huge erogenous zone now. I love it, I love it, I love it!

Eventually though, I plan to have ALL my body hair lasered away. It really disgusts me and I get soooo tired of constantly working so hard to rid myself of it. While it's not really painful anymore it's still tedious and takes a long time.
Of course you BioChix could probably have a much better time of it, like you may get away with only having to do it maybe once a month rather than every 3 days.

As for the face, ouch. I swear though, I WILL get that down too. I tried to run it on my face but the hair is just too tough for it to pull out so I am having to tweeze it all out by hand the first few times. In time, it will become easier just like my legs and I'll be able to do my face the same way. That will hold me through until I can afford laser. But oh let me tell you, it's like ripping telephone poles out of the ground. At least I had a pretty good bit of electrolysis back around 1990 so a lot of it was already long gone. Some did survive the electrolysis (must have been dormant hairs then) but it's waaaay less than it was prior to that.
When I do go for laser, it should go fast and easy and should take less treatments than someone that's never had any sort of hair reduction treatments.

Body and facial hair is just so nasty. My neighbor was out back the other day in his back yard, he hadn't shaved in a few days and he looked like a hobo. And he had on a muscle shirt. When he lifted his arm up all that nasty hair was there.
I wanted so bad to say to him, "Boy, you better watch that stuff, that looks just like a snatch there, someone might try to stick a weenie in there if you go flashing it around like that.." But, I refrained and kept my thoughts to myself. But oh did I really want to say that. I swear, it looked just like a nasty, unshaved snatch. Ewwwwwwwwww....

I go and get my waxing done at a day spa. It's a lot easier to take. The lady that does me is super and she does the waxing really fast. You don't even have a chance to scream! Although I've had the laser done on my legs,There is still a bit of growth here and there. So I get my legs, arm pits and there is a little patch on my chest that I get done.
I wanted the brazilian done but they don't do that on guys. So I'm stuck trying to do it my self. The problem with that is,when I put the wax on and then apply the cloth strip, when I rip it off I hesitate. The second I feel the ripping,I let go of the strip and then I try again to peel it off. Now! that really hurts!
Getting the underarms and legs done hurts,But you get used to it. They told me to take a couple Tylenol about an hour before I get waxed, It seems to work. You waxers might want to try that. You too Moonstruck! when you're using your epilady.

I've thought about putting some of that toothache medicine on my face before hitting it with the epi.
I was reading a laser discussion on TH and they all say that you're supposed to apply a topical deadening agent about an hour ahead of time. First time you go in the put it on your face and you wait 30 minutes then they laser you.
One girl said it was like 20 minutes to do her whole face. Boy I sure hope that's true! But of course it took 4-6 treatments.
Still, that's WAY better than electrolysis. I spent about 40 hours under the electrolysis needle, at least. Maybe more, I can't remember for sure.

I've got to come up with some money somehow.

1. Laser for face/neck.
2. FFS.
3. SRS. (I hope, someday...)
4. ** maybe ** breast augmentation. MAYBE. And only if I complete the other steps first. But mark that as a remote maybe.

If I only had about $30,000 I could do it all with plenty left over to burn.

Anyway, I managed to strip down my face tonight, like 90% or better. There were still some light white hairs on my cheeks and of course there's still my neck. But I had all the fun I could stand for one weekend. I've been working on this for two days now.
So I just quit and shaved what was left, very slowly and very carefully. And I can not feel or see anything.
It's CLEAN... And I LIKE it. I'll keep at it with the manual tweezers for a few weeks. After I've stripped it all down several times they will get lighter and come out much easier. It won't be long before the epilator will be able to handle it.
This will get me by until I can afford laser. Laser should go pretty well since I had a lot taken off way back when and with the epilation the hair will be finer and come out easier.

I'm looking forward to throwing those damn razors and shaving cream in the trash forever!

When I went for my laser,They used a gel on me right before my treatment. Man! that stuff was cold, but the treatment still hurt. I can't imagine what the treatments would of been like without the gel.
That sounds like a good idea using that toothache gel before epilating,It might work!
If it doesn't, you can always try the Tylenol it works for me and many others.

Re: Do NOT, under any circumstance, ever, ever

Hehe... I'm immune to pain medications. OTC stuff just does not work at all on me.
I have a broken spine that's patched up with titanium and a boat load of related spinal problems.
And constant migraines. I call them "suicide headaches" because they hurt so bad and so long that I want to kill myself just to end the pain. There is nothing I've ever found OTC that gives me even a tiny bit of relief.

I'm also immune to codeine. I am one of a rare and small minority of people whose system does not convert codeine.
Codeine itself is NOT a pain reliever. Your body converts it to morphine and THEN you get pain relief.
For a very few people, their body has something goofy, I think it's a missing protein or something like that and it simply does not act upon codeine. It doesn't convert in me to anything and I just pee it out. I could get as good of pain relief from a bag full of peppermint candies.

Pain relief for my back is not possible. It hurts so bad that I really want to go have them just CUT whatever they have to cut to make it stop. If that meant that I would be paralyzed, with no feeling below my shoulders, in a wheel chair, I don't give a crap. I would trade that for an end to the pain.
For all the people in my life that think I'm just whining about my back, I wish they had to go 24 hours in my shoes.
Just 24 hours and I guarantee you they would commit suicide because of the pain. They would NOT be able to handle it.

Anyway.... Pain is my constant companion. It's always there for me, no matter what I'm doing or where I'm at. Like your shadow, it's always there. I have no doubt the laser will be a little painful but I'll handle it.
I'll be glad to take a little pain there, for a few minutes it may make me forget about my back.
And I'll have the deep, deep satisfaction of knowing that I'm one more step down that path to freedom.
