Milk Thistle Allergy

Hi Everyone

I've been reading this forum for a week or so now and got inspired to try some of the herbal supplements. Today I tried Milk Thistle, but I should have paid attention to the warning on the label about people who suffer from hay fever not using it.

I haven't had a hay fever reaction in several years so I figured that I would be safe. Fortunately my reaction wasn't severe, but it was strong enough to stop me from taking any ever again.

At first I felt a little warm, that sensation has lasted with me all day, but after an hour or so I also felt my bronchial tubes tighten a bit. It wasn't scary enough for the doctor, but it felt like I had the flu or something (only no mucus). I actually felt a little giddy at one point, that may have just been psychological though. :)

It's been about 10 hours, and my lungs are normal again, but I still feel warm in my hands and feet. It's actually kind of nice, as my hands and feet are often cold. I've been taking kelp on and off for that for months with no change.

So lesson learned, fortunately without a trip to the ER. I will looking into Fenugreek and Fennel next, but I will watch the labels very carefully next time. :)

Hey,you can Google the name of the Herbs and look at "Wikipedia Encyclopedia" to learn more about the Herb before you take them. Also keep reading on here and ask Questions, everyone is helpful on here. Ive tried alot of everything so far,no adverse reactions to anything. guess im lucky. There is alot of information on this site if you find time to read. Ive found the main ingredients is Fenugreek,Red Clover,Saw Pametto, but there are more Herbs besides these also. Hope you find what works for you.

Thanks Chasin!

Sometimes I think this is an insane sort of quest, but I've been fantasizing about it for twenty years. I don't know where it's going to lead me or if I'll just chicken out, but more and more I have to express myself as Jeannie and not just John.

I'm hoping that my post will prevent anyone with hay fever from seriously hurting themselves, I got a minor scare but it could have been a lot worse.

I thought hay fever was a respiratory allergy - only triggered by breathing grains in the air?

Well dont get scared. It takes along time to develope anything. Depends on how much you want to presue. Myself,im after the figure, and some tits. But how big yet?,I dont know, just letting them go for now. Hope you find everything out your looking for. I read alot of everything that is told me and look up different Herbs,BO,estrogens, the real stuff also, side effects, just alot of information. I have read that they wont get much bigger than a "B" cup. Dont know if this is true but you can stop. Im still learning also and I DO ask questions. Tks to everyone.....

I probably have no idea what I'm talking about, but I always thought milk thistle was a *remedy* for hay fever.

All I know is that the bottle did have a warning on it not to take if you had hay fever or ragweed allergies. I was hoping that I would be safe since it had been a few years since my last allergy attack, but I was wrong on that.

I'll never take the stuff after reading your post. I have severe hayfever and lots of other allergies and I am also an asthmatic. A big THANK YOU for the warning. This can be helpful to a lot of people.

You're Welcome

You're welcome Fennel Fairy, glad I could be of help.

I tried my first Fenugreek today, 600mg. There have been no side effects at all so I will gradually start taking more over the next few days. I hope I get to feel the tingling and other sensations that so many people here describe. :)
