Depth of field is very, very shallow when using the macro mode. Considering the circumstance, you made a great shot from a bad situation.

... and in case you haven't noticed, I love photography! Nice picture. Below is a photograph of the only (and I mean ONLY) plant that the deer won't eat, digitalis! She stands alone in my front garden.
