On Saturday while riding my motorcycle to work, I was smoking a cigarette and a piece of burning ash went under my sunglasses and into my eye. On Tuesday I went to the eye doctor because when I woke up my eye was swollen and matted shut. The doctor said I have a burn on my retina and under my eyelid. Everything is blurry out of that eye and cant see properly through a scope. the doctor expects it to make a full recovery but I probably wont be able to see properly for a couple of weeks.
For now the starlings have free reign. I'll double my efforts once I can see more than a blur through my scope.
Go to your doctor and get a perscription for Chantix...

It's an indorfen blocker. Completely eliminates the physical urge for nicotine. All you have to fight is the mental habit. I've been two weeks now without a smoke and haveing an easy time of it. Been a smoker for around 40 years. I think I got it licked this time.

Always nice to hear someone kicking the habit! I did it 17 years ago and it was not easy. I failed several times but just kept trying. Pure poison to society. If we only knew...
Maybe with God's help I will conquer this habit.
I've tried several times too, but my body (or mind) was so anxious that I have to pick up the cigarette again.
I am sure about one thing Nicotine is more addictive than THC. :P

Addiction

Yes, the tobacco is addicting and then the manufacturers add other chemicals that accelerate the absorption of nicotine into the blood. That surge or RUSH creates a very powerful physical and mental addiction. They know what they are doing more than you do!
I quit 17 years ago and it took many attempt for me to finally nail it. Never give up. Each time it won over me, I became more determined to stop and used my anger regarding the defeat to fight it again and again.
The federal D.O.T. has made it illegal for pilots and truck drivers to take chantrix. I had actualy planned on seeing the doctor to get a precription and my boss informed me of the ban.

I'm praying for you, Shawn.

That is a serious injury. It may be worth the pain and suffering if you stop smoking, however! You now have two hurdles to clear. Firstly, I hope you recover from that eye injury. Secondly, follow up on this incentive to kick the habit. Best of luck and a speedy recovery!
I've been seriously thinking about quiting for a while now. I was pricing the patches yesterday, and with this injury it makes quitting all the more worth while. Its a poor excuse but sometimes with the stresses of life its just easier to light up and relax.
Shawn, quiting is a one time thing that is my father told me. So maybe you shouldn't buy any patches or gum.......
He smoked for 30+ years and suddenly stopped smoking and never turned back, It has been 10 years now since he quit.
I am not sure if it is God's help (he's a priest) or something else but one thing that's true is if you chose quiting then there is no turning back(no nicotine in your body anymore) . My heart almost gave up last sunday when playing soccer. Maybe it is time for quiting...........
