This is an old Hollywood publicity stunt at its finest. Vin is not spending time in NY to be near her, he's in NY because he's filming "Find Me Guilty". Publicists use this tactic all the time to get their clients name out there in the public spotlight. It helps the career of BOTH involved. This isn't the first actress Vin has been linked to for publicity purposes. Hell, he was even supposed to have dated Carmen Electra and she stated publicly on Howard Stern that she hadn't even met him before!
If (big if since he's stated many times that he's single/available/won't settle down until he's about 40) they are dating and it ends up being serious, their reps will confirm it.
