Response to advice

I went to UAG from 97-01 and loved it. School is far from perfect, but it is one of the better foreign schools to attend. The people that complain are the ones that probably shouldn't be in medical school to begin with. They couldn't pass the boards if they went to a state school and they need something to redirect their anger. They won't and can't blame themselves.

Step I pass rate in my class was about 35% the first time. Some classes are higher. By the time of graduation, about 45% had passed. Everyone but two who were eligible for 5PW got it. All my friends, even those who had problems with Step I got residency. Some very good spots too.

UAG is just a tool. It allows you to take the boards and practice medicine in the states. I'm doing res. in Texas, and my companions who went to carribean schools are having a hard time obtaining liscensure. The faculty at UAG are variable. Some are better than others, but that is true of everywhere. If you do go there, study hard, from day one. Learn the language, love the people, and experience the culture. You'll never regret it.

I wish you luck in you career.
