If you can pick up an old crashed plane with it's engine and radio intact,
SPAD air planes can be built for less than $20..

The SPAD3D plans are some of the best I've seen.
Here's the last one I made..
The air-foils are coroplas, the Fuse is a 3/4" al rail (plywood endcap)
and the engine mount is plastic cutting board (snagged from kitchen).
No smelly glue and very break resistant during hard landings..
Takes a few hours to build one. And they are a lot of fun to fly..
I'm making a low speed pass under a banner, before dumping a golf ball
out of a cup taped on top of my plane.. It was a contest.
