To get your saw slow enough consider making a jackshaft with a flex plate ring gearMay 17 2012 at 9:13 PM
Response to I have a 16" wood cutting band saw, I'm converting to cut
I did this conversion a number of years ago based on an article in Projects in Metal by 'cannot remember' Mclean?
Using a flex plate and starter pinion the bandsaw can run slow enough to cut steel. Made the motor reversible to save using an idler gear. Works great!
