Took the plunge, bought a lathe...

I bought the Toolsnow Sieg. I was going to try to buy used, the add I responded to even had a mini-mill and I was hoping to offer him on both but he never responded to my inquiry.

I wanted the Microlux from Micro-Mark because I thought it was the most feature rich in the under $600 range but with shipping and handling it was just more than I wanted to spend even on sale.

Harbor Freight tempet me with a 7 X 10 and they had it in stock locally but I just felt for $60 more the Toolsnow package was better.

I'll be leaning on you guys for the rest of the year so stay sharp! wink.gif

Welcome to the madness

OHHH you've gone and done it now. Hope you have money saved for tooling. The good news is lathes are not that hard to tool. However, when you get your mill, you'll spend hours droooooling over all the neat bits and cutters you can get...believe me, it will happen.

Have fun and lean away.

I didn't get a mill...

the used mill didn't materialize.

I do have a few projects for the lathe in the pipe, I bought it instead of buying the parts I need/want aftermarket.

Oh, you will, you will...

... the next time you use a drill press and screw up a hole on a part you've spend two hours turning on the lathe.

Get a mill and be done with it, it's a foregone conclusion.

Anyway, welcome to the madness.

My original HF minilathe in front of my later LatheMaster bench top lathe. Yep, ya done got sucked into another great hobby to occupy your free time and money.

I even used the HF mini with the 4 jaw chuck and "steady rest" to chop and crown a couple airgun barrels. LOL...after indicating the OD of the barrel to make sure it was centered for the crowning I learned that the bore of the chopped barrel wasn't in the center of the tube! sad.gif
