Response to Cravings |
|
Cravings ... Many smokers are terrified that they will get cravings after they stop. They cannot imagine being able to get that feeling without acting on it. And their vie of the desire to smoke as an irresistible force creates a self-fulfilling prophecy. Desire to smoke, like other impulses, are not irresistible. Just as you don't buy everything you want whether you can afford it or not, you don't have to smoke--even if you want to--if stopping smoking is more important to you. You may want to smoke sometimes, but there is no reason to be afraid of that feeling. It's just a feeling, and can never make you do anything. I will not be afraid of cravings. I am perfectly free not to act on them. | |
