1. Define web-based application.
A Web application is an application that is accessed via Web browser over a network such as the Internet or an intranet. It is also a computer software application that is coded in a browser-supported language (such as HTML, JavaScript, Java, etc.) and reliant on a common web browser to render the application executable.
Web applications are popular due to the ubiquity of a client, sometimes called a thin client. The ability to update and maintain Web applications without distributing and installing software on potentially thousands of client computers is a key reason for their popularity. Common Web applications include Webmail, online retail sales, online auctions, wikis, discussion boards, Weblogs, MMORPGs and many other functions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_application
2. Give an example of web-based application.
Sample MySQL, Global Resource Center, Google Earth

3. State the function of the application.
Global Resource Center – used in developing human resources for health. It offers a global library of human resources for health focusing on developing countries. For example, healthcare personnel can store their individual details in this database. This database can be accessed by country that needs the healthcare support. The healthcare personnel can then be contacted via this web-based database and called to the service. By using this system, countries with health needs can be met.

4. Name a programming language used to develop web-based application.
Microsoft Access, FoxPro

5. Name a DBMS used in web-based application.
Stands for "Database Management System." In short, a DBMS is a database program. Technically speaking, it is a software system that uses a standard method of cataloging, retrieving, and running queries on data. The DBMS manages incoming data, organizes it, and provides ways for the data to be modified or extracted by users or other programs.

Some DBMS examples include MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft Access, SQL Server, FileMaker, Oracle, RDBMS, dBASE, Clipper, and FoxPro. Since there are so many database management systems available, it is important for there to be a way for them to communicate with each other. For this reason, most database software comes with an Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) driver that allows the database to integrate with other databases. For example, common SQL statements such as SELECT and INSERT are translated from a program's proprietary syntax into a syntax other databases can understand.

6. State an advantage of web-based application compared to non web-based application.
A Web based applications major advantage is that it can be accessed from anywhere.
Software does not have to be installed on the local computer for its use.
Many different operating systems can access it without problems (if it is designed right).

7. State a vulnerability of web-based application.
SQL Injection / putting a = 'a' in a field making whatever statement automatically true when logginging in.

Cross Site Scripting / putting javascript in forms and submitting and running that javascript on submit that allows me to run some ajax code on the server side and doing whatever I like.

Purpose C# is an object-oriented language that enables programmers to develop applications with the power of C++ and the ease of Visual Basic. Microsoft built C# from the ground up with the .NET framework and Object Oriented Programming (OOP) in mind. However, C# expands OOP even beyond Visual C++ concepts. It is a strongly typed language in which everything is an object.

immersive multimedia in entertainment
//////////////////////////////////////
IMMERSIVE MULTIMEDIA
Immersive multimedia refers to computer-generated simulation of reality with physical, spatial and visual dimensions. This interactive technology is used by architects, science and engineering researchers, and the arts, entertainment and video games industry.
Virtual reality systems can simulate everything from a walk-through of a building prior to construction to simulations of aircraft flight and three dimensional computer games.
Immersive technologies and virtual reality are powerful and compelling computer applications by which humans can interface and interact with computer generated environments in a way that mimics real life sense engagement.
Although mostly known for its application in the entertainment industry the real promise lies in such fields as medicine, education, science, engineering, oil exploration, data visualization and the military to name just a few.
As 3D and immersive technology becomes more integrated and available for a wide range of applications. It requires well-designed user interfaces and innovative content for the next generation of computer games and integrated technology like mobile devices, distributed web systems and desktop applications.
