I lived in Abronhill in the 1970's before emigrating to Canada. I came back last month for the first time. I was pleased to see so many of the trees that were newly planted when I moved there are now beautiful and mature. I was rather sad to see some of the paint peeling on the garages and flats. Also the phone box in Ash Road was disgusting looking. What made Abronhill a great place when I lived there was the neighbours and the beautiful parkland around it and of course the buildings were new and bright..
The council should be ashamed of themselves for allowing a lovely place to deteriorate like it has done. Certainly people also have to take pride in their neighbourhood, but I think the council has let them down.
Surely, if they are not doing anything about its deterioriation then they are not doing their job! |
