- A lot of people at the SmackDown house show in Manchester, NH were shocked to hear about the draft lottery Vince McMahon announced Monday on RAW. Many, many people on the SmackDown roster didn’t hear about the announcement until Vince aired on RAW and friends, family and significant others called up guys over at the house show and told what had just happened. Many people we’re said to be very unhappy to have found out the news in that way.
As mentioned earlier, the lottery was put together by McMahon and the writers over the past couple days. To go and announce it on RAW was a last minute decision made by McMahon, as well as scheduling it to take place next Monday. With The Rock, Angle and even Mick Foley being “questionable” for a long term stay, expect for a big shake up between rosters.
- The decision to split up the rosters next week on RAW was in major part due to the lack of strong heel depth on the Smackdown roster as well as Lesnar's departure from WWE. There were also lacking TV ratings going into WMXX which may have also played a difference.
Although this may be a change for us fans, it's a huge change for the wrestlers themselves as it will affect all their travel schedules and they will likely lose traveling buddies. This will take awhile to get used to for everyone.
- The backstage attitude concerning Kurt Angle’s recent numbness in his hands is not very optimistic. Many within the company expect that the tests will reveal that he will need to undergo surgery on his surgically repaired neck.
The situation is being taken very serious, as most understand that if Angle does undergo surgery again, there is a good possibility that it will be career ending and Angle will be forced to retire.
Several people backstage have said that Angle hasn’t been his usual happy self backstage and is not in high spirits. The threat of his wrestling career being over is definitely taking its toll on him emotionally.
Whether or not Angle chooses to retire remains to be seen.
