Wrestlemania XX. Families all over the world tuned in to watch this memorable extravaganza. For a few hundred viewing the PPV in Florida, (in the spirit of Janet Jackson) let's just say they experienced a "Transmission Malfunction".
Sometime around 8:30PM EST during the Hall of Fame portion of Wrestlemania, viewers in the Florida area, got to see a different type of grappling! Just as Mean Gene introduced Pete Rose, approximately a few hundred viewers in the Pasco, Hillsborough, Citrus, Hernando and Polk counties of Florida saw their PPV switch from Wrestlemania to "Naked Dating", a pornographic movie.
And believe it or not, the cable company is using the word "malfunction". They state that for some reason, the signal "swapped" channels, hence the few seconds of the adult film.
To make up for the mishap, the cable company is crediting $25 rebates. However, you must call and complain about the mishap, to obtain the credit.
Quite a few took their complaints to WWE. World Wrestling Entertainment vice president Gary Davis called the situation "unfortunate" and stated he was going to contact the cable company to express their disappointment with what happened.
I know some viewers here in NY (particularly in the Brooklyn area), experienced a 5-10 minute blackout at the start of the PPV, I haven't heard any other areas suffering from "transmission malfunction".
(Thanks to Marcy over at Jelson for sending us the details)
