Hitman returns to the ring...

Thanks to Alan Edwards for sending this in!

This is Alan Edwards from SmarkTown.com, and I was lucky enough to be in attendance for Bret Hart's return to the ring last night in Canton, Ohio. His speech wasn't long, but did cover a lot of the issues he's dealt with, from multiple concussions to the stroke. He said he has virtually no feeling on the left side of his body, but he keeps striving to improve. He said he wants to keep improving, and what doesn't kill him will only make him stronger. Three fans were chanting HBK, but he didn't acknowledge them. He thanked the fans quite a few times, but didn't specifically mention a return to television in any role. However, the comments about going through physical therapy and things only making him stronger sure seem to hint that we haven't seen the last of Bret Hart.

Bull Buchanon was a surprise performer in the 25 person battle royal at this event, Main Event Championship Wrestling's April Ambush, and he came in near the end to quickly clear the ring and take the victory. The original babyface Doink the Clown (the true original was a heel) took on a local guy, spraying down the front row, the ref, his opponent, and his opponent's valet with a Super Soaker, even sneaking up behind the valet and squirting up her dress. He threw a pie at his opponent, and pieces of it came into the front row, causing the guy next to me to complain about his "expensive shoes." Matt Capotelli from Tough Enough was on the card, but didn't show.

Al Snow was in the main event against local star Jebediah Yoder, an Amish character which carries a shovel. Al came out with Head. Near the end of the match, Al Snow performed Sweet Chin Music, a Pedigree, and the People's Elbow for two counts each. Yoder then performed Hogan's Leg Drop and the Worm for two counts each. Al Snow then came back with a Stunner for two and began unlacing his wrestling boot. He took off his boot, then his sock.then stuffed the sock in his tights for about ten seconds, pulling it back out and sliding it on his hand. He went for the Mandible Claw, but Yoder hit him with the spade shovel. Snow answered by grabbing Head and nailing Yoder with it for the victory!

Scotty Sabre of the old WCW and BJ Payne of OVW squared off, but the match was lackluster and most of the indy guys performed at a much higher level.

Bret, Al, and Bull were all very cordial, making sure EVERYONE got autographs and/or pictures if they wanted them (just pictures from Bret), and Al especially was a very nice, friendly guy here in his home state. He joked around and did some crazy poses with fans, and was even seen signing a boy's forehead and a woman's cleavage (at her boyfriend's approval). The man of the night, though, was Doink. He isn't so young anymore, and I'd heard that he wasn't a very cordial person, but he had casual conversation with everyone that came up and would talk about anything, and this man is hilarious. When I posed with him, he put his hand on my throat and said "grab hold of my wrist with both hands." and picked me up in a bodyslam position for the shot! Very nice guy, and all the guys there deserve credit for really being good with the fans.
