New promotion coming, Wrestling Channel debut, and more

June 3 2004 at 6:31 PM

- Some feel that the Japanese promotion, Dreamstage Entertainment could become a major competitor for WWE if they decide to bring their product to the U.S. Dreamstage has already shown that they will offer huge sums of money to major U.S. names such as Goldberg and Steve Austin. Dreamstage is also on good terms with agent Barry Bloom who represents many wrestling stars such as Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Goldberg, and Mick Foley.

- On July 2nd, The Wrestling Channel is set to debut the first independent show dedicated to the world of professional wrestling on international television. "Inside Wrestling" will be a weekly one-hour show, written & presented by Blake Norton, broadcast from The Wrestling Channel studios in Dublin, Ireland. Each show will feature news & reviews from every major wrestling promotion around the world, including NWA-TNA, Ring Of Honor, WWE and NOAH. There will also be Q&As, editorials, competitions, and one-on-one interviews with the top names in the wrestling business. Norton, whose journalistic background includes editorial posts at WOW Magazine and Imagine Gaming Network, also brings hands-on, in-ring knowledge to the table. He spent a year training at the world-famous Hart Dungeon in Calgary, and is the current head trainer at the Irish Whip Wrestling Academy.

"Inside Wrestling will be to the business what The Tonight Show and The Late Show are to Hollywood" explains Norton. "TWC are sparing no expense in creating a terrific set, and they've put together an exceptional team of top graphic designers & video editors. We're still a month from launch, and the test footage is already phenomenal. I'm excited to be on board for the project. It will be a celebration of the industry, and will cross every border to cover the entire sport."

"Blake has a very extensive knowledge of pro-wrestling, backed up by his years of hands-on experience," stated Sean Herbert, President of The Wrestling Channel, in a public statement today. "We are looking forward to working with Blake, and we expect the new show to be a great success. His natural charisma, confidence, knowledge and experience will bring a lot to the table."

"Inside Wrestling" is set to debut in a prime timeslot, Friday, July 2nd at 8pm. There will be repeats throughout the weekend.
