Unforgiven news, notes and possible spoilersSeptember 12 2004 at 4:13 PM | PhenomForest.com | |
| - The original plan for Randy Orton vs. HHH was to have Orton retain the title, possibly through a DQ finish, however, some are pushing for a title change at the PPV. With many deeming Orton's title run a failure, those in favor of an Orton title loss feel that WWE would be better off putting the title in "safe" hands, while allowing Orton, the face, to chase the title to rebuild interest in the angle. HHH was also expected to win the title at Summerslam, before the match was changed to Orton vs. Benoit, so a title win wouldn't be impossible. Again, the plan originally was for Orton to hold onto the title (and WWE is advertising future matches with Orton as champion), but some backstage are hoping for the opposite, so it should be interesting to see how the match plays out. Remember, a win for either wrestler is NOT confirmed at this point.
- Most backstage feel that the HBK/Kane angle was poorly handled going into tonight's PPV, so the hope is that Michaels and Kane will put on a good match to redeem themselves and their status in the storyline on RAW.
- The following is the final card for Sunday's Unforgiven PPV:
World Title:
Randy Orton (c) vs. Triple H
World Tag-Team Titles:
La Resistance (c) vs. Rhyno & Tajiri
Intercontinental Title (Ladder Match):
Chris Jericho vs. Christian
Women's Title:
Trish Stratus (c) vs. Victoria
Singles Match:
Shawn Michaels vs. Kane
Tag-Team Match:
Chris Benoit & William Regal vs. Batista & Ric Flair
- If Chris Jericho wins the Intercontinental Title tonight at Unforgiven, he will become WWE's first ever seven time Intercontinental Champion. He is currently tied at six with Jeff Jarrett
- WWE made the decision to keep Shawn Michaels off RAW on Monday because they wanted to save his first "live" appearance for Unforgiven on Sunday. Of course, Michaels appeared during a taped Republican National Convention clip on RAW a few weeks back.
- WWE.com is advertising Randy Orton being champion for a Raw show next month. With Unforgiven this Sunday and Randy Orton defending his World Title against Triple H, it looks as if Randy Orton will retain his World Title at Unforgiven as WWE are advertising Randy Orton being champ on October 18th.

In the above extract from WWE.com its advertising Randy Orton making his first Chicago appearance as World Champion on 10/18.
Now this doesn’t confirmed that Orton will defeat Triple H this Sunday as he could lose it and regain it at a later date before October 18th, however it’s doubtful that Triple H will lose the Title on a Raw show to Orton.
