Rumors of Olympic signings, Movies for Kane and Cena, TNA taping cancelled and more

September 12 2004 at 4:25 PM

- In what sources are calling a "top priority," WWE is putting forth a lot of effort into signing Egyptian wrestling gold medalist, Karam Gaber.

Additionally, WWE is currently negotiating with other Olympic wrestlers, whose names have not yet been disclosed.

It should be interesting to see if WWE signs any key Olympians, as it is believed its roster can benefit from an addition of depth.

- Here’s an update for everyone on the upcoming WWE movie, “Eye Scream Man", which will feature Kane and is filmed in Queensland, Australia. The horror movie lists Vince McMahon is the executive producer, Joel Simon as the producer, and Gregory Dark as the director. The following is a summary of the upcoming movie: “The film is about a group of teens from a juvenile corrections facility who are assigned to renovate a dilapidated hotel over the weekend and wind up being terrorized by an insane serial killer who lives there.”

- John Cena will not be appearing on SmackDown brand house show events this weekend due to him heading to Australia to begin filming the WWE produced movie "The Marine." Cena was previously scheduled to face JBL for the WWE Championship on both SmackDown events in Edmonton and Calgary this weekend. Instead, JBL will defend the WWE Title in a three-way against Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero.

- Smackdown did not have any quarter hours do a 3.0 or over this week. The highest quarter hours were 2.9's for the final two.

- As reported yesterday, TNA made the decision to cancel this Tuesday's Impact! taping at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL due to the oncoming threat from Hurricane Ivan. TNA wrestlers were told last week that the cancellation was a possibility and that they shouldn't expect to be paid incase it took place.

- Big Vito's name was removed from the "SUPERSTARS" section of TNAwrestling.com earlier this week. The NYC stable will be returning soon as both Glen Gilberti and Johnny Swinger began filming vignettes in Orlando recently for the return.

- Pat Kenney (formerly known as Simon Diamond) will now be know as "The Empire Saint" when he makes his return to TNA TV very soon.

- As previously noted on a few weeks ago, CM Punk's contract with TNA expires at the end of this month and it doesn't look like he will be making a return anytime soon.
