New Orleans native and current WWE SmackDown! Superstar John Heidenreich, spoke with Eric Paulsen on the WWLTV Morning News Program to promote the upcoming WWE SmackDown! show scheduled to take place at the UNO Lakefront Area in New Orleans, LA tomorrow night (Tuesday, December 28th 2004). At the start of the interview, Eric Paulsen uses the controversial “is wrestling fake” question as an icebreaker to officially kick off the segment. Heidenreich replies that it’s a dangerous sport that can lead to various injuries with no off season with 280 days on the road each year and talks about the fan base which comes with the sport. The former football player from Brother Martin High School, played with the New Orleans Saints back in 1993 and was a fellow football player with former World Champion Bill Goldberg in his tenure with the Atlanta Falcons. While under the wing of his football agent who was currently working with another superstar who was wrestling at the time, admits to being involved in a couple of fights leading to him being kicked out of games during his football run, was told by others that he should get into professional wrestling because of his personally. At this point, he says he has read The Rock’s book along with a relationship with Goldberg lead him to train with Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW), a California developmental organization used by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) for promising talent. In comparison to professional football to professional wrestling, he replies that wrestling is a better experience and much more fun despite the physical demand the sport is known for by many. He describes his recent trip to Iraq as a life changing experience in a very positive way and is honored to have the freedom which comes with being an American citizen. Also, he describes the excitement showed by the troops for their holiday tribute. Heidenreich goes on to say that it was wonderful to bring a piece of America to them in order to brighten the hopes of everyone including those who may not have seen their families in well over a year and proclaims them as the real heroes. At this point, he says that there’s no place like home in New Orleans and encourages fans to attend the show with a bell time of 7:30PM CST. Overall, the interview was very enlightening by giving wrestling fans a closer look at the person behind the character. Heidenreich appeared to be relaxed and handled himself well though the course of the segment.

I live in south Mississippi and last night saw a local TV ad for tonight's broadcast of RAW from the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi. The ad promoted a special "bonus match" for only the live audience featuring Randy Orton vs. Triple H with special guest referee Shawn Michaels.
