There comes a time when you either grow up, or you remain an immature jerk. I know what I'm talking about because I've been the jerk; but something happens when you reach that time in your life when common sense tells you to sit back and enjoy your children, your grandchildren and other members of your family.
To be honest, I had planned to retire from "Bigfootin'" when I reached my current age, but then I took a look at all the other folks my age [and a few older] who are still in the field because they can still go. I decided to continue until I can no longer hike up and down hills, cross swampy coves, rivers, creeks, etc.
Then, I'll consider sitting back in camp with a walkie and keeping track of the younger folks.
Over the years, I've made more than few folks angry with me. I'm sorry for that, sorry I went into "jerk" mode for a while, but now...the real, genuine, dyed in the wool David holley has returned.
I may be a bit "gun shy" at times for fear of upsetting others with my views, but I promise...I'll not stray from the right path again.
I'm letting go of the past.
