Last summer, two individuals from the state of Georgia perpertrated a hoax on the Bigfoot Community, and the general public by claiming they had [in their possession] the body of a creature we know as "Bigfoot".
To be sure they did indeed produce photographs, and they did indeed hold a press conference. However, thankfully there were some in the "community" who questioned the truthfulness of these two wannabes.
Last summer I took no part in any of the debates, because quite frankly...I didn't think the body which was offered up in a deep freeze looked anything like the creatures I've seen close up. Therefore I stayed quiet.
I even tried to avoid the national press conference and the "fall out" which occured afterwards. Tried...but I did voice my opinion afterwards.
Some members of the TIMBERLINE BIGFOOT GROUP had telephoned me before another certain "researcher" was identified, and my personal opinion was that it sounded like a con, being run by a con artist; and that I didn't believe the body was real.
However, with last summers media event safely exposed I realize it did show all of us something.
The general public is curious about Bigfoot. They want to embrace a living, breathing, biological creature. Or...they want us to come to the conclusion that the animal doesn't exist. One way or another...the Georgia hoax put Bigfoot back into the mainstream of "mysteries".
One need only watch this season of "MONSTER QUEST" to see how many episodes have been devoted to Bigfoot, the Swamp Stalker, the Snow Beast, and Sasquatch in general.
More and more people are reporting sightings. Some of the sightings are old, but they're coming forth to report their encounters because there are more places to report the encounters, and more people doing legitimate research who won't laugh at the reports.
Eventually, the habitat for these creatures will shrink until one is harvested. [Harvested= killed] Killed and examined by scientists with open minds; from different branches of science. Then and only then will the skeptical news media and the general public at large accept that a genuine "Bigfoot" has been harvested, examined by members of the scientific community, and DNA reports are made available accept the truth.
The sad truth is simple, Bigfoot is making its last stand against an encroaching civilzation of humans. Humans eager to cut the trees, dam the rivers, and live in the wilderness. Man and ape will not co-habit the same area without a confrontation. Those thinking the creatures will continue to retreat into wilder areas must realize that the wilderness areas are becoming less and less available.
Bigfoot aggression is nothing new. Some think it's only in the last few years that these creatures began to show aggression towards humans, but in reality...the aggression has been an ongoing event.
The Teddy Roosevelt Story from his book "THE WILDERNESS HUNTER" is either a great goblin story best told around campfires, or it occured. Fred Beck's story about "APE CANYON" is real or another great campfire story. The attack on one Bobby Ford [THE LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK] actually happened or it was a hoax.
[The man and his family have never made any other statements since the event which I am aware of. Perhaps someone has more info than I do.]
There are other stories of more recent encounters which report aggression displayed by the creatures. I don't think I'm at liberty to discuss those encounters which I know about and which have been written about on other pages.
I do know about one such encounter which occured in March of 2007 in which I was involved in, along with john David and several more members of the TBG. However, I won't talk about it publically again.
The last refuge is whereever you find these creatures. And, they are fighting back. Take care and be careful in the field.
