Brothers,
Some of you may have not yet been introduced to me, however I am one of Englewood Lodge #166’s newest Master Masons, and as of our last communication, the voluntary leader of the Mentoring Committee. There was a discussion regarding prospective members who wish to join our organization, and how we can better serve them and make them feel a part of the lodge from the minute they walk through our doors, through their application, initiation, passing and raising.
The purpose of this group is to have the current brethren dedicate some time as a mentor to the men interested in Freemasonry, and joining the fraternity. I am currently seeking out those who wish to participate in the forming of some general guidelines and procedures for welcoming our potential candidates. My desire is to make them feel welcome, wanted and needed, as well as to provide us (the Lodge Members) with the ability to get to know these men and expand upon the “Brotherly Love” that we profess.
As a new Master Mason, and a person that is exited about the future and history of Freemasonry I feel that to participate actively in the growth of the Lodge, will result in personal growth as well, by getting to know the prospective members personally. Mentoring will consist of introductions to other Brothers, other Masonic Organizations, helping with candidates with proficiencies through the degrees, answering questions, providing direction in Masonry and more over all being a quality friend, which is not easy to come by in today’s bustling times. Mentors will be assigned (voluntarily) as a main and secondary mentor team to each candidate in order to provide them with people that they can call, regarding the lodge and Freemasonry.
I would like anyone who is interested in joining the Mentoring Committee as an organizer, or as a Mentor to new candidates, to contact me via email, phone, or at the lodge with their name, phone numbers, address, and other contact information so we can start this process.
