The first part of this chapter deals with Judging others. As this scripture says, "judge lest ye be judged". I think this contridicts everyone's cry out of "thou shalt not judge". Always has bothered me when a non-believer who says "you arn't supposed to judge people so go away and don't tell me my problems". They don't quite understand the difference between judging someone and helping them in the first place and second i don't think i've seen anything that says "thou shalt not judge", it only says that you will recieve the same degree of judgement as you give. SO think about that one, it may help when trying to talk to someone who is havin' some problems. But do keep in mind, the title "judge not, that ye not be judged" JUDGE as defined by Webster: "to form an opinion about through careful weighing of evidence and testing of premises", Just thought i'd throw that in.
And the second part is one of my favorite, "Ask and ye shall receive" i think i touched on this in the last Chapter but i'll say again. Jesus says that anything you ask or seek it shall be given you, but the thing is, you have to ask first. And it isn't always given to you in the form that you want it in. You may ask for a loaf of bread to eat and he may give you a breadmaker or a cow as food. It says that he will supply your needs and he will. All you need to do is ask it. Just ask.
The third part of this chapter deals with the path inwhich christians are to walk. For Jesus says, "wide is the gate and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:" this i believe is the path that many people walk and say that it is fine. People whom say, don't deny your impulses that make you human, but the humaness is what seperates us from God. It amazes me how people twist things around. Then Jesus goes onto say that "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." This is kinda disturbing cause he says that there are few that find it.
I believe that this and the previous part about "ask and ye shall recieve go hand in hand. For you ask help to walk the narrow path and not to stray into the broad and sinful path. This is where alot of people that i see get in trouble, they go with what everyone else does just cause everyone else does it. I know it's cliche but it's true. Jesus instructs the Christians to follow the narrow path to life (live your life as a christian, know Jesus, inorder to get to heaven)
Then we get into the false teachings which are mentioned A LOT in the new testament. Because there are many false teachings which we should be cautious of. Jesus says that we will know these false teachers by their fruits (you can tell that they lie by the way they live and what they do in their lives. For example the hypocrites who teach things falsely. Be careful that you don't let people confuse you with a slick tounge and flawed logic.)
And this part about the True way to the Kingdom is interesting also. Jesus says that in that day men will cry out to him and he will say depart from me, i never knew you. Even though they had prophecied in his name and cast out devils they had worked iniquity (done bad things and went against Jesus' teachings) This shows that the works of men are not what gets them into heaven. You can be good and do all the good in the world, but if you do not know Jesus (and he don't know you), then you can't enter. So those of you who do not know him, e-mail me, and i'll talk with you, that is the most important thing in the world, to know Jesus.
Jesus tells the parable of the Builders which simply means that those who build their lives on Jesus are able to get through the strongest storm and in the end will live forever, but those who do not build their life on him will be blown down by the wind and consumed in the storm, and shall die. Just read it for yourself, i can't explain it very well in words, it speaks for itself though.
