Post Op Pain

I Had an ingunal Hernia repaired using the mesh plug on Feb 8 2008.2 weeks ago i started having pain above my incsion Site it hurts when i bend or walk and radiates down to my thigh do you think this will go away or have i been plagued with chronic pain from the mesh plug.

Significant pain at this point is not normal and is of concern. First and foremost however, a comprehensive evaluation, including an examination by a knowledgable physician/surgeon is needeed to exclude any other cause(unrelated to hernia and prior surgery) for your pain. Only if this pain is then felt to be hernia/surgery related should treatment proceed. While this may be suggestive of a more chronic problem of Post-Herniorrhaphy Pain Syndrome, consultation and conservative management by a qualified Pain Management specialist and/or supervised Physical Therapy should in my opinion, be fisrt attempted.

Dr. Goodyear- I see most people on this site with problems have used the plug- even in today's day and age. I think someone should tell people not to use the plug!
