I don't know if this helps, but I just had hernia surgery, and I am wearing a binder. I end up wearing a binder for about 10 months out of the year. It's depressing. My recent hernia surgery, I don't know if it's a bump but it is raised, but I think that is normal.

I too, wear a binder at least 10 months out of the year. I waitress, so being on my feet all day, I think it's best. I think those binders really help, even though they are a pain in the butt.
WEAR THE BINDER!

The surgeon that I been seeing and talken 2, say's to wear binder as much as possible. Either until surgery/or until healing /also if a heavy person in bellie area. Here in the south with temp in high 80's-90's, humid, he says to take white tee-shirt wear as is or kind of like tube top underneath the binder, some people the elastic bothers their skin. Latex allergey. He said it help's keep organs /bowels in place and weigth off badder, pubic area. helps keep from puting presure on rectal, also hemorrhoids. Also helps build muscle tissue back. after being put under strain/stretch of the hernia.

Binder

I have a kitchen towel that I use over my current incision. ( I have drainage, so I still have it covered with a gauze.). But the binder was bothering me, and the nurse suggested a cotton T-shirt, or towel. But just for my incision, I use a kitchen towel. But it does help.
