Lumbar Hernia

In December of 08 I had a lumbar hernia repaired and have since experienced more pain than before the surgery. I had to go to the ER on Dec 25th. A Ct scan showed a 10 cm hematoma. Now,6 months later, I have a tight clenching pain in my side from the incision site to the front side of my waist. I have pain that radiates down through my hip to my leg and I cannot walk, and especially sit, without pain. I also cannot bend or lift much weight since the surgery. Just picking up a basket of laundry is painful. The pain is not all in my back area..it is also through to the front. I can't lean against a counter or reach across a table.
My question is this: I have had surgery, and from everything I have read and experienced..it didn't go well. Is there ANYTHING I can do NOW? My Surgeon says he doesn't know why I am having pain still and doesn't know what he can do to help me.

Whereas without an examination,I cannot make or confirm a diagnosis, such pain is possibly consistent with nerve irritation or impingement, possibly by mesh assuming such was utilized. There are many nerves traversing this area that descend into the leg, and irritation of these nerves may cause similar symptoms. If so, and if this does not gradually resolve over the next few months, surgical approach back into the area of the repair, although difficult and to an extent risky, might be the only option for effective treatment.
