I had bilateral inguinal hernia repairs about 2 years ago. I am having pain that is constant and won't go away. Can anyone list a good surgeon in my area? I am willing to go anywhere in Florida.
I don't live in Florida. But if I were you I would try to see Dr. Jay Redan at Celebration Hospital who may not be too far from where you live. If you have to travel a bit, you should. There are also other surgeons mentioned on this board from Seattle to LA to Missouri.
Have U looked into just south of U ? Just about 50 miles come or take miles. The Sarsota Hernia Center???? I have not seen this doctor my self, but pulled the web site up. He has year's under his belt. Told he is good. I also can say check with the Blake Hospital in B-town, Blake has a dotors hotline on referals, they sent me a folder on newer hernia surgeons, in that area.. I don't have it handy. Their is one out east of B-town,I got say stay way from.... I moved from B-town now in AL also looking into surgeon's, just waiting on SSDisability appoval. Their is also in the B-town east off from 26 ave east over by Mixion fruit, a plastic manufacture plant something new within last2-3 years, they make hernia mesh patches. That is if U get down that way.

Seth: great great post, Dr. Jay Redan is head of the CAPPS program. I am sure, he would be able to help many people suffering from lap hernia surgery with adhesions.
Well you have left very minimal information as to the type surgery repair, the severity of the pain, and if any other treatments have been tried. I had bi-lateral inguinal hernia repairs, not at the same time, but I developed severe chronic pain afterwards. I had the surgery, and there are possible risks involved. Surgery should only be considered if it is severe, and more conservative treatments have not been successful. Physical therapy, nerve blocks, etc. North Penn's section on Post-herniorraphy pain syndrome gives some information on who they believe are good candidates for the surgery.
Jeff; If u refer to what I posted Lin, It did not post the way it was suppose to, we been having weather problems here, but computer been acting up, possible bugs. With what posted about the Sarasota doctor I fig, that person that wants information can type his name in and read his infor himself. Very sorry about that.
Dr. Jonathan Yunis in Sarasota, as already mentioned, and the Miami Hernia Center -- both offer years of experience and skilled assessment and surgery...
AJeff. hi I know that their is a site where you use to be able to get doctor check on him and his/her field . and how they were rated by patient.. but it might been band.. was given, a bad rap. I may end up going back to Fl, for 2nd surgery. I have found a good surgeon here in Northern Al/Tenn. I'm now waiting on an Appeal hearing from SSD. He does lap hernia repair, but I told him I really didn't want go that way unless have to. this now going on 4th abdominal surgery weak muscle tissue. I need lose weight, can not work cause of entrapment, can not do exerices, can do a little walkin , light house work. I retain fluid from knees to ankles. prop feet up alot.
Lin, one can go to Rate My MD http://www.ratemds.com/social/?q=node/11 or just google 'rate my md' and there is a wealth of info there. If anyone has had good or bad experiences it would be so helpful to others to list and rate them here.
