Anyone here dealing with what is called a "Sports Hernia". I have been having some pain in my lower right ad area. Had the pain last year and went away but has returned in the last month or so. I have working out pretty hard with lifting running and playing hockey and soccer. I do have a right inguinal hernia that was diagnosed by Dr. Goodyear about a year and a half ago. He said it was pretty small so I could just kind of watch it. I had a cat scan done last year which showed nothing wrong in my abdomen but they found that I had a slipped disc in my back. I guess my question is could the slipped disc be the reason for my pain in my abdomen or could it be a sports hernia. The pain is a dull ache kind of nagging pain. It has not stopped me from doing my workouts but it is annoying. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Hi Chris,
Can you look at the CAT scan report and let us know at what level of the spine the skipped disk has occurred? This might help with knowing if it is causing your abdominal pain since nerve routes from different levels of the spine lead to pain in specific areas of the body. The area that most commonly leads to referred pain in the abdomen is the thoracic area of the spine.
I am not sure about the exact area of the spine the disc is but I believe it is in my lower spine. And that is where most of my pain comes from. I do notice that when my back acts up thatis when the abdominal pain comes. I did land on my butt and back last week playing hockey. I am guessing this might have something to do with my back pain, but I am not sure if it has anything to do with my abdominal pain.
