Need help and answers, If a person did not have health Insurance prior to first hernia. Reason for not having could not afford it on single person wages even after holding two jobs down. Hernia was repaired with tension method in 2003. Hernia was a Ventral with entrapment of the omentum, repaired 6 years ago. But was 16 years after second C-Sectional birth. On reading and researching I find that with what the Surgeon done, I fall off the charts of a very high rate of recurrence of hernia. I don't know why he repaired hernia with the tension method to begin with. Nothing in OP Report of as to why. In Patient Report he state he going to use meshbecause tissue wasto weak from child births. Now 6 years later I have recurrence of the same. I remarried in 04/09, husband is trying to get me on his job insurance. In reading all the health crisis, and about pre-existing/recurence and insurance. Are their other people out there that could answer, WHAT are my CHANCES that I be turned down for this??? I did not choose the method of repair, if he had used mesh which has a lower rate of recurrence would I still have insurance problems?? ( He has a son that has asthma), which he has had since birth, which is also a pre-existing condition, why is it that my condition is a problem with the insurance company?? Thank You.

I can't answer your questions, but I am also worried, because I just had my fourth one, fourth year in a row, and I wonder how long the insurance company is going to hold out. It's sad. I don't blame them if they were to get upset with the yearly hernia surgery.
Good luck to you. I hope you find answers quick.

Hernia's&Insurance Companies

Louise. Good Morning. Thank You for your input.Sooner or later this is going to effect everyone. I know that this could get deleted. Hoping it don't. I read all the posting here and other sites. Research everything I can. Their is alot of folk's here that have more then one hernia surgery. Which I take is from the damage done by the mesh. Yet I had the Tension Technique, which my surgeon changed during the surgery. The problem is that Wall Street Investors are controlling what insurance companies can do. Kind of like a ratio quota, quote, per number of repeated surgeries. This goes for any and all diseases. Question Just what did our past generations do for recurrence of hernia's??? Everything was the Tension Method, until the 50's when the first mesh was invented.People are falling through the health care system. It seems you got be born with health insurance don't drop it. Anything that cann't be treated now becomes pre-existing recurrence. This is where the money is made. ( Don't Cure) no money made here.
