My dad had an inginual hernia repair on the left and right side on the 26th of July. Subsequently there was a lot of swelling and he had low grade fever (99 - 100). He was aspirated twice and a haemotoma was removed- but as a result his fever went up (100-101).
A CT scan showed some collection next to the mesh. On Sep 7 he was operated on again and the collection removed and the area irrigated.
Since then he had fever upto 101 for the first 4-5 days - but was recovering the next 3-4 days with no fever during the day, but going to 99.4 at ~ 8pm, It would come back to normal without any medication in a few hours.

However, today he had fever the entire day (99.4) and it went upto 100 in the evening

Dr Goodyear - I am worried - do you think it could be some kind of infection again or is this just body recovery time?. He has been on various different antibiotics over the last month and a half

A temperature of 99.4 in the absence of any other signs of infection (wound swelling, redness and/or drainage is not to me worrisome. Some would even say that 99.4 is not a true fever, but within the upper range of normal (98.6 is only the middle of the normal range and is not an absolute value). The wound should be observed closely be his surgeon for other more specific signs of infection.

Dr Goodyear - Thank you very much for your comments!

Yes his surgeon also confirmed that he has no other visible signs of infection....though his fever did shoot up to 100.6 at night...but has come back to normal this morning. I am hoping that was just an aberretion
