Hi,

I am on Day 7 after bilateral open hernia repair using mesh + also had vasectomy and surgeon also removed a swollen gland on my right side in the crease between leg and crotch up toward the hip, no sure what this glands called but I guess I dont need it. Had considerable swelling over the whole groin area below the incision which has subsided slowly since day 6 but now I have a lump about 3 inches by 1 1/2 inch which has appeared suddenly and looks to be in centered in about the same area as the gland was removed, its tender when I place pressure on it and the lump feels semi hard. Is this something O should be worried about?

Regards

Peter Brannan

I recommend that you contact your surgeon for a discussion and preferably an actual examination of this area. It may simply be a collection of fluid, but an exam is needed in my view to excude a developing infection. With mesh nearby, if infection is present, early intervention with antibiotics is needed.
