Hernia size and weight loss

Has anybody noticed a reduction in the size of hernia with weight loss? I have surgery coming up soon with dr Minehart. He has asked me to lose some weight if possible before the surgery. 10lbs down and hernia sticking out less.

Hi
If you have had hernia for over a few months/years you know that weight definitely is one cause of hernia. Having said that, the hernia is pelvic floor defect - probably a hole in ice sheet. Even if you reduce your weight extremely great the hole remains a hole. There is no way (at least to my knowledge) that the hold auto seals itself.

And when your weight was more you would feel the hernia more and reduction of weight may feel it lighter but the hole remains and needs to be sealted with mesh/otherwise. Anycase losing weight is always good idea.
