THE PRESIDENT:  It's not true.  And one more misunderstanding I want to clear up -- under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place.  (Applause.)

or

Health care reform should not be used as an opportunity to use federal funds to pay for elective abortions. Health reform should be an opportunity to protect human life - not end it.

Unfortunately, Speaker Pelosis 2,032-page government takeover of health care does just that.  On line 17, p. 110, section 222 under Abortions for which Public Funding is Allowed the Health and Human Services Secretary is given the authority to determine when abortion is allowed under the government-run plan.  The Speakers plan also requires that at least one insurance plan offered in the Exchange covers abortions.

What is even more alarming is that a monthly abortion premium will be charged of all enrollees in the government-run plan.  Its right there on line 16, page 96, section 213, under Insurance Rating Rules.  The premium will be paid into a U.S. Treasury account - and these federal funds will be used to pay for the abortion services.

Obama is so obsessed with

getting a healthcare bill passed that he apparently ignores the details.

I am wondering, how much would it cost to fund abortions with tax dollars? I realize that the principle is the issue but still, are we making a mountain out of a mole hill, relatively speaking, when it comes to costs?

Are abortions currently being paid by tax dollars? There are so many relief programs that I am betting they may be.

I think many of us on our side of the issue felt the Hyde Amendment was a real firewall . . . but it has limitations built in that you have to be a lawyer to appreciate when you read the Amendment . . .  which is probably why Pelosi has let it survive this long.

It appears that the Hyde amendment

applied only to funds coming from certain departments or agencies and did not prohibit all units from funding abortions.

I think it is appropriate to fund the procedure if the woman's life or health could be seriously impaired by not having an abortion.

Along this line, what about miscarries? For example, my former stepdaughter miscarried because she was just too young and not developed well enough to carry a baby. It was ignorance and lack of responsibility on her part to get pregnant just as it is ignorance and lack of responsibility for one to want an abortion.

My wife and I paid cash for the procedure if that is bothering anyone, even though the girl had married to a deadhead that didn't seem to let work bother him. The hospital insisted on having money right up front before doing whatever it does after a person miscarries, some sort of cleanup procedure, for lack of a proper term.
