Although I cannot claim Celtic or Northern ancestry, I can claim both Polish and Italian nobility...the Italian came from an ambassador what had won the favor of one of the Polish kings (not that I remember the name, but if asked, I'm sure my mother may know) who had requested that if he were to die in battle, that his daughter would be taken care of.
The Land that my family had, the last of it anyway, was lost in WWII to Hitler, and we still have not had it returned (not that we ever will, I'm sure), resulting in my families current Motto "Never Again" and for those interested in heraldry, the shield is Red with three white flowers surrounding a triple bladed scythe.
