^_^
That's my boy.
Feel shame at your addictions, Jordonians. ^_^ Go read C.J. Cherryh's modern-day sci-fi/fantasy classics. That's right, folks, a Hugo- and Nebula-award winning author who can tell an intriguing, complex, and emotionally wringing story in the space of a mere 300 paperback pages, published in a
single novel,
and with a cast of less than 50 characters! Fear her mad skills. I recommend The Paladin for beginners, and Cyteen for people who think they can handle it. Also try Tripoint, Merchanter's Luck, and the Morgaine Saga (more than one book, for those of you who require trilogies).
And, if your mind isn't too blown by Cherryh's utter ability to rule, you might dare to step into LeGuin, if you haven't already. She is widely considered to be among the best writers of the century, and certainly a grand name among true sci-fi and fantasy lovers. Try the Earthsea Trilogy for starters. Or, if you want something more socio-politically aware, try The Dispossessed or The Left Hand of Darkness.
Love and kisses,
Your friendly neighborhood Lit-Nazi,
Rachel
