Response to It's a bird, it's a plane, it's... |
| ok so where to start. First off tensions seem to be running a little high for ideas and feedback sessions. Maybe we should step back and look at things a little more objectively. First everyone has a right to an opinion and every one has a right to ask for feedback. if asked for feedback then you have the right to give it... however when you give feedback if you choose not to say something because of your opinion of it then just ddon't say anything... ok thats enough for running and kind of mediation damage control he's my thoughts on the actual posts
1 the embrace
Jim 1 : I have seen that work very well as long as you don't allow for tailored bios. Not that it would be random but much like you saidmost concepts can be put into any clan.I like the idea and then people can still play a character they want just maybe a diffrent clan than they would have expected
Mike : I have a few points for you to think about Mike.First, have you thought about the number of players we have each week? The number of regular players we have doesn't support a multi genre game. Nor do we have the narration staff to do it. Going with just random Vamp clans, or even vamp cam clans might work but then people end up playing clans (and making characters to fit clans) that they may not want to play then you have unhappy playersand they stop going to games. Also most of the players that come to this game don't know the genres or the rules for those genres well enough tto play a random character or how to play in a game where there are other genres. Oh and I do have to say that Jim is right so little in the WoD is random. Vamps like Jim said later can be random but rarely are, unless you are a sabbat shovel head and then your not expected to live anyway. as for other things not born into their fate ghouls : 'those you choose to bless with the potency of caine, may come to live within your house to protect you...Let those who serve be named the greatest of the children of seth and most priveledged' (book of NOD words of caine)Caine did not intend ghouls to be random. Also the large amounts of random would be in my opinion, too much programming and not enough roleplaying. On a more personal note; I love mortal characters in a LARP. since Larp doesnt have all sorts of tests all the time it gives you the chance to play something different and see where it leads. It also adds to a new aspect of the game like giving vamps a reason to use disgression other than the traditions. It leads to a whole new level of character interaction.
2 Clan elimination
Jim: I agree with lots of what you said. Ravnos where i like them they are close to going. the only two that I am not sure how come from the two clans that only offer disciplines Malkavians and settites I would just like to know how you're going to do it and if it will be done by eliminating their existance to begin with or will something happen in your world to do it?
Mike: I hope the fact that you like Ravnos and Giovanni are not the only reasons for you to want to keep them. I think we all know my affinity for Ravnos but i still understand the clans death. i think Jim came up with valid reasons to do what he did other than not liking the clans or disciplines. And as far as vamp mythos and ravnos: Ravnos clanbook has even said tthat chimerstry was not vampiric... not that it wasn't part of the WoD but that it didn't follow traditional vampire powers.
3 No ST plot
Jim: Personally i like this idea. and one thing that i think is being overlooked is that there is initial plot just no ST plot after. Frankly players should be able to come up with thier own plot based on character goals that each character has at creation. For a short game it could be very fun. Longer game might get difficult with the players we have.
4 Location
It would be pretty kick ass but it occurs to me that we have a hard enough time using all of the park let alone a town.
5 those Wacky imbued
Mke: your suggestions to jim on the hunter game were valid however there were some problems with it. first being that the ST and narrators have lives, perhaps you may not think that it is much of one but its there. There is a lot of work to go into any game to then try to run it daily is absurd. The other problem is that by having anyone able to meet on any day takes away from the organisation of hunters. Jim had said that they organise in small groups probably not unlike coteries. by allowing people to show up each night and interact with one another like that is taking away from the coterie and spreading it to working with whoever is available.
The other point made was about garou timing.... well, all i have to say is that that is just when our minds eye cameras focus on them. I spend most of my time in the caern as do many of the players they just go about with their own lives. if you want or need to get ahold of someone or do something, that is what the IC forum is for or you can try to actually get a hold of who you want to talk to. and the sept alpha calling for a weekly address won't work until we get a new one or did you forget he died last game....
Ok I think i have sufficiently helped beat this to death. now jim you know my ideas that i brought up to you about these thoughts that i can't remembre at the moment... In general some of the ideas need some work but nothing here is unfathomable, save locations point. and i think that it could be a lot of fun to do something different....
