I have been "elected" to chair a small to medium size golf tournament. Looking for advice on all aspects of putting event together. Best ways to increase size, solicit prizes, ways to get most bang for buck. Would appreciate any places to obtain more info. Thanks

Bob -

I've worked on many tournaments - both pro and am/charity events. I can probably help direct you. First I'd suggest that you get a good group of golf knolwdgeable people on your committee. Then start delagating! Someone for prizes, someone for sponsors, someone for contests (putting before the event, then longest drive and closest to the hole), a club liason person to coordinate logistics/meals/drinks, etc. How many players do you expect to sign up? 50? Then there's the fun handicap issue - which method to use and what to do with the unhandicapped. Anyway, let me know. I'll check back here.
