You are on the right track,as those simulators can give you very useful information. The latest thing is the interchangeable driver head/shaft demo combinations (I've not tried them yet.) Now you can find the best shaft for the clubhead you are considering,by looking at the results in the simulator.
Funny you should talk about drivers today,as I purchased a used Ping G2 10 degree driver

I played a round Monday with a friend who has one,I hit his and liked it;they just happened to have one at the local Pro Golf store. Another friend had a Ping G2 8.5 degree driver with an extra-stiff shaft;surprising, I could hit it with a nice trajectory and it didn't feel harsh. Given that I'm more a 10.5 degree,Regular flex person, this always impressed me about the G2. I really like the feedback the G2 driver gives me on well struck shots.
The fellow golfer uses that HiBore XL and he is definitely LONG!
Currently,I'm trying to focus on hitting more fairways,or at least controlling the misses by eliminating the left side (hook for me) of the fairway. I can definitely get more distance playing a draw, but it sometimes gets me in trouble. So, I now open my stance slightly (probably about 10 degrees),play the ball a little rearward in stance and hit a slight push. Yesterday I don't hit any left;my misses were right.
Keep us informed on your new driver!
