I would regularly shoot in the high seventies, and once I shot an 70 on the head, with a front nine of even par. Par for the course was 66.
The course was called Edgebrook, it had ashpalt tee boxes with rubber door mats to tee it up on. The longest hole was 340 yards, needless to say it didn't have any par 5's but it did have two long par threes, both 230 yards.
The course is right in the City in the Forest Preserve, and it was a fun course to walk, and some of the characters you met there were a hoot. One guy was a millionaire, used to drive up in a Rolls Royce. He told me he didn't like to play on the country club courses, because the people were too snobby. I think he didn't play there because he was just cheap, that's probably how he got to be a millionaire.
