I have to belive this year the peak will be between May 5 and May 19th. Every year during turkey season I have found my most morels. It usually starts about the second Saturday of the season. Last year I looked while I was hunting and found a few the first week. But the second week it really started warming up, and my dad and I found 140 the second Sat of the season. And that whole week was ridiculous, we ended up with over 800 that second week. 2005 was about the same way, so for me, turkey seasons second weekend is what I personally go by. And the other thing is, the turkey hunting is good the same time Redbuds are out! Chris
We are eagerly waiting to do some looking tomorrow evening. We're hearing of others in Washington Co. that have found some already. Hoping to not come home empty handed this time. We've had the rain...now we need the sunshine!!
I live in washington co. also. im about five minutes away from the southpark garbage dump. I went out today and found a couple decent sizers but nothin to special yet. last year me and my buddy found about 560 odd id say... and that was in about three days and we didnt even leave our yard... we own about 78 acres and let me tell you, dead elms all over... in turn, morel maddness. Hope you find the mother load! good luck!
Found some April 30th too small picked today May 1st. Weather not good this year for morels but we are not giving up. Last year good crop. This year not so many. Live on 265 acres lots of dead elm but not much luck.
I am fairly new to mushroom hunting but I have fun. I am looking for other to farage with.
I live in center city Philly but I drive to parks throughout the SE.
Spring has been cold, but they are up. Season should last longer than usual due to the weather. They are up all over the National Park region along the river above Shawnee.
Hey I just found this site and am looking foward to my first season seeking these little tasty shrooms. If the fellow is still on this site from Phila. I would be interested in a partner in my seaching (four eyes better than two). I think I might have a few spots that seem like they might produce.
