Went out today,in between thunderstorms, and found around 30 blacks & 25 whites. Iam sure as the weather warms they will really start popping up!! Happy Hunting!
I saw you found some blacks. Just what conditions do you find them in kansas? I have hunted morels for years and never have found blacks. I know they come out earlier than the other varieties so they must be coming out soon here in NE kansas. I live in lawrence, so the terrain may be different here. Any hints you can give a fellow Kansas mushroom hunter?
My bad, I found out that what I found were grays not blacks.I live in the sand hills and have been finding them on the west side of the hills under and around the evergreen trees. Ifen you make it to the Hutchinson area drop me a line and I will gladly take ya hunting, I have a number of spots that are loaded with shr.ooms
