Yes, morels are common in WV. Unfortunately, the season has more than likely passed you by. If you look at the Sightings Map -

Great Morel Sightings Map

you'll see the season for you typically runs from the beginning of April and runs up until maybe the first week in May.

Hope that helps and next year get a jump start.
