We found morels two weeks ago, just two, in a strange spot. Today the morel season has officially started for us. Harvested the first crop today. Hoping for more good Morel weather.

Hey I live in northern Wyoming can you tell me where in Montana you are located? I am a newbie and I need a little direction. Are you finding them in burn areas or somewhere else? Thank you for your help

Sandy river bottoms and close to cottonwood trees. Also the last few years the grassy areas have had a lot. Sometimes we find them in strange places not like the ones mentioned above. We are in Western Montana. We have found some in Northern Id towords the end of the season also. It really is a lot of fun to hunt these little guys!!
