growing morels

This is my second season hunting. It has been good again for me. I have found about 150 here in Cook County, Illinois, another 40 a few weeks ago in Jo Daviess County and about 50 in Sauk County, Wisconsin. I'm heading out to Jo Daviess County again tomorrow. I don't imagine they will still be out there but you never know.
I am trying to spawn some mycelium from a few stem butts I went out and picked yesterday (from someone else's bonanza apparently -- under a big elm). I soaked a cardboard box in water, and then soaked some sawdust and interspersed the stem butts with some soil from the spot I found them with the sawdust in the box; and put the whole thing into a rubbermaid container in my basement.
Maybe I'll get lucky again. I doubt it.
