I was hoping to get some info about when and where to find morels in Vermont, specifically in the Milton/Burlington area. I found a few yellows about three years ago in So. Burlington....seems like it was April....went back the next year and found nothing, don't know if someone beat me to them or they just did not grow. Any help/comments GREATLY appreciated.
It's too soon to find them in most of Vermont, especially up where you are. Give it another week and a few more days of warm weather then start looking in earnest.
Hi, In the WRJ area..haven't seen one yet !! Warmer weather tomorrow.
Was in Indiana 2 weeks ago, they were picking by the grocery bags full :-(
Last year we found 27 under a dead elm in our neighbors yard, nothing there yet this year. Mid west picking is much easier, in Vermont they are sure ELUSIVE !! Happy hunting !
Morels are now growing in the Burlington area. Our first find was about a week and a half ago. So far we have found about 100, a mix of mostly yellows and a few blacks. It must be a great year for morels because we have never found more than a precious few each spring and we are loving it! I'd get out looking soon, though before the season ends. Happy hunting!!
